Pauline Anthonysamy

Dr. Pauline Anthonysamy is a Senior Staff Privacy Engineer at Android, dedicated to making mobile privacy a reality. Holding a PhD in Computer Science from Security Lancaster, Lancaster University, UK, she translates complex security concepts into tangible features that protect users. Her work includes developing privacy-preserving telemetry, strengthening network security with 2G downgrade prevention (praised by the EFF), fortifying sensor security through rate limits, and enhancing user control with ephemeral guest mode.

Before her current role, she focused on empowering developers to build trust with their users by creating tools that surfaced privacy improvement signals within the Play Developer Console. Her research interests extend to applying natural language processing and machine learning to privacy, and utilizing large-scale data to model user behavior and understand privacy preferences. Dr. Anthonysamy's contributions directly impact millions of Android users, ensuring their data remains secure.
