Google Research

Sylvain Gelly

I am currently part of the Google Brain team in Zurich, Switzerland. Our team conducts fundamental research in Machine Learning, trying to push the boundaries of what is possible with new algorithms, and also trying to understand and formalize some of the phenomenon observed in practice.
Before that, I worked in the Google Search team for 8 years, including the Knowledge Graph and automatic Question Answering for 5 years.
I received my PhD in 2007, working in Reinforcement Learning, and in particular in the domain of Computer Go.
