Abstract
Tournament design is a field at the intersection of mechanism design and social choice which studies the question of how to choose the winner of a round-robin tournament under reasonable desired properties. This problem and some results were recently explained in a Research Blog Post by me:

The point of this tutorial would be to present the results in the blog, together with some novel results, to a technical audience (as opposed to a wide audience).
