We develop novel neural network architectures and learning algorithms, with applications to computer vision, natural language and speech processing, medical image analysis, and computer architecture and software.

Our mission is to drive innovation in neural network architectures and learning procedures in areas of strategic importance to Google. Beginning in 2016, the group’s research spans a wide spectrum of basic questions in deep learning and diverse domains of application. This includes new architectures, new techniques for training neural networks, robust learning from small amounts of labeled data, and unsupervised learning. Current research is focussed on four broad areas, namely, neural network techniques, generative models, computer vision & graphics, and machine learning for systems & software.
