Google Research

Telmo Pires

I am a MSc in Aerospace Engineering from IST, Portugal, where I worked in unsupervised learning applied to trajectory analysis, under supervision of Prof. Mário Figueiredo.
Before Google, I worked at Unbabel, where I studied neural approaches to automatic post editing of machine translations, and built an internal AI assistant with a conversational interface.
At Google, I worked in cross-lingual natural language models, with a particular emphasis on code-switching and transliteration. Currently, I am working on human depth estimation from images for 3D reconstruction.
My interests lie in structured prediction, particularly applied to NLP and Computer Vision.
