Laura Shumaker received her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT. After working as a product design engineer, she started a company that replaced typically labor-intensive shoe-making processes with digital manufacturing options. This rekindled her love of soft goods and eventually brought her to Google, where she has been the Product Design subject matter expert (SME) for textiles since 2017. She focuses on translating product design architecture needs into textile design requirements and novel assembly processes.
