Edward E. Aftandilian

Eddie leads the Java Source Tooling, Compilation, and Static Analysis Team at Google. The Java Source Tooling, Compilation, and Static Analysis Team provides cutting-edge tools at the boundary between research and practice to help developers write better code faster. The team is best known for its work on Error Prone, the standard Java static analysis and large-scale refactoring tool for all Google Java engineers, but also provides additional tools like Google's standard Java source code formatter and the Java toolchain for the Bazel build system.

Eddie previously contributed to Tricorder, Google's static analysis platform.

Eddie received a B.A. in Physics and an M.S. in Computer Science from Harvard, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Tufts, where he worked with Sam Guyer on memory analysis tools for Java programs.
